The Angel Bakery opened in December 2016 and is located on Lower Castle Street, next to The Angel Hotel.
The bakery is open Tuesday – Saturday from 8.00am – 4.00pm.
Our bakers use organic flours, French butter and long fermentation processes to make sourdough & enriched breads, pastries, cakes and pasties. All items produced go straight from the oven to our shop, throughout the day.
Although guests generally pop in for items to take away and enjoy, there is limited seating available inside the bakery. In dry weather, there is a rustic bench available outside the bakery and additional seating across the street, in the rear courtyard of The Angel, where our guests are welcome to sit and enjoy the baked delights.
Our bakers Sophie & Polly are passionate about what they do and are continuously developing new products and ideas for the bakery. As well as beautiful breads & pastries, The Bakery offers a selection of cakes, handmade soft-serve ice cream, ‘Round Hill Roastery’ coffee (made using our impressive Victoria Arduino, Athena espresso machine), freshly prepared sandwiches and pasties. The Angel Bakery have also recently teamed up with Fern Verrow to offer our customers the chance to order one of their biodynamic, organic produce boxes (which can be collected from our shop each Saturday).
Every single item at The Bakery is made by hand, with passion and commitment to quality and flavour so that our guests enjoy eating our food as much as we enjoy making it.
