The Angel Bakery started trading in 2016 directly from our bakery on Lower Castle Street in Abergavenny. We make long-fermented sourdough breads and pastries by hand using flour from British mills.
As well as selling to our local community, we have built up a significant wholesale trade supplying delis, cafes and restaurants both in Monmouthshire and further afield in Cardiff and Bristol. We have become part of an outstanding local food supply network, most of whom also supply directly to restaurants.
Covid-19 has meant that we lost nearly all of our wholesale trade overnight, alongside many of our suppliers. Our shop at the bakery in Abergavenny is so small that we decided to close our doors to customers and transform ourselves into a delivery and pre-order service. Since then, we have been working to expand the breadth of what we can offer as an online shop and in our now re-opened shop in Abergavenny. We want to be able to keep baking and to provide a route to market for other producers. We want to be able to sustain our customers with really excellent produce.
